He has worked with major multinational companies like Wipro and Aricent Technologies; and been to the USA on a technical assignment while functioning for WIPRO technologies. He was also closely associated with VIT University. He, along with his students had demonstrated the use of a device that binds the concept of augmented reality at human fingers and had been to San Francisco related to the project. He had been to Dubai, UAE and has been trained by Barcode Gulf LLC on handheld devices. Being an innovative “techie” himself, he not only gets updated with new technology every now and then but also persuades his students to put forward their ideas and supports them enormously to get it implemented. Dr. Arun K Somani, Senior Associate Dean, College of Engineering
Distinguished Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Iowa State University, USA

Arun K. Somani came to Iowa State in 1997 as the inaugural recipient of the David C. Nicholas Professorship in Electrical and Computer Engineering, a position he held until 2003 when he received the department’s first endowed Jerry R. Junkins Chair. A year later, Somani was appointed the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering’s chair. He is an Anson Marston Distinguished Professor, Association of Computing Machinery Distinguished Engineer, and a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. During his time as department chair, Somani led the department to create five strategic research areas in bioengineering, cyber infrastructure, distributed sensing and decision making, energy infrastructure, and small-scale technology. Somani was instrumental in the development of Iowa State’s software engineering program. He also helped lead an initiative to create a degree program for students from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) in India to study in India for two years and then at Iowa State University for two years to finish their undergraduate degrees. Somani designed a multicomputer system called Proteus, and authored Survivability and Traffic Grooming in WDM Optical Networks (2006), in addition to more than 250 conference papers and journal articles. Somani’s research interests include optical fiber networking, computer system architecture, dependable computing, and cyber infrastructure. In 2006, he received the Warren B. Boast Undergraduate Teaching Award. Before coming to Iowa State, Somani was a professor at the University of Washington in Seattle from 1985 to 1997. He received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from BITS-Pilani (1973), master’s degrees in computer engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (1979) and electrical engineering from McGill University in Montreal, Canada (1983), and PhD in electrical engineering from McGill University (1985).

Dr. Zdzislaw Polkowski is a Professor of UJW at Faculty of Technical Sciences and Rector’s Representative for International Cooperation and Erasmus+ Program at the Jan Wyzykowski University Polkowice. Since 2019 he is also Adjunct Professor in Department of Business Intelligence in Management, Wroclaw University of Economics and Business, Poland. Since 2021 Zdzislaw Polkowski collaborates with The Karkonosze State University of Applied Sciences in Jelenia Góra, Poland. Moreover, he is visiting professor in Univeristy of Pitesti, Romania, WSG University Bydgoszcz, Poland and adjunct professor in Marwadi University, India. He holds a PhD degree in Computer Science and Management from Wroclaw University of Technology, Post Graduate degree in Microcomputer Systems in Management from University of Economics in Wroclaw and Post Graduate degree IT in Education from Economics University in Katowice. He obtained his Engineering degree in Computer Systems in Industry from Technical University of Zielona Gora. He has published more than 120 papers in journals, 25 conference proceedings, including more than 50 papers in journals indexed in the Web of Science, Scopus, IEEE. Dr. Polkowski is co-editor of 5 books which have been published in Springer and CRC Press Taylor & Francis. Till date he has delivered over 60 invited talks at different international conferences across various countries. He is also the member of the editorial board of several journals and served as a reviewer in a wide range of international journals. His area of interests includes IT in Business, IoT in Business and Education Technology. He has successfully completed a research project on Developing the innovative methodology of teaching Business Informatics funded by the European Commission.
